One of EMDAD's main objectives is to be Environmental friendly. Since its inception EMDAD insists on reducing any effects from its operations on the environment. Being ISO 14001 certified pushed EMDAD to implement this vision on a wider scale; EMDAD secured a 5 years contract from ADCO to provide an Oil-Based Mud (OBM) recovery processing plant.

The OBM plant processes the waste mud produced from oil and gas well drilling operations and treats the "cuttings" to recover the oil and water using a heat-and-centrifuge process. Thermal Oil Recovery (THOR) system applies indirect heat to contaminated waste material until the soil temperature is above the vaporization temperature of the contaminant. The contaminant vapor which is water and diesel is then condensed and recovered. The THOR's indirect methods recovers hydrocarbons so that the can be recycled as fuel or to a process stream for resale.
